Though in today’s market plethora of carpet cleaning products are available from mild to strong and consisting of various constituent combinations. While most of them are not dangerous chemicals but there are some which are very harmful and need special attention and care at the time of handling.
The chemicals used are comparatively harmless even though it is always better to take proper precautions like wearing gloves and safety glasses while using them. A word of caution, few chemical combinations are extremely dangerous and it is therefore advisable to stay away from such combinations. Families having kids and pets around should be vigilant of this particular set of chemicals which is not dangerous to the user but is unpleasant to health of the environment.
According to the safety norms there are certain chemicals which are very harmful and are banned from being used. Despite this some products disregarding the norms might be full of such chemicals like hydrofluoric acid, nitrilotriacetate / nitrilotriacetic acid, perchloroethylene / tetrachloroethylene and tributyl tin.
After all these norms and restrictions too some chemicals might just get qualified for using but are needed to be handled with utmost precaution and safety while being used. Health hazards are also caused by some chemicals like butane, isobutane, or propane (aerosol propellants), ethanolamine, glycol ethers such as butoxyethanol, quaternary ammonium chloride, sodium bisulfate, sodium carbonate and sodium hydroxide.
The government norms clearly categorize few chemicals as substances which must be as far as possible kept away from as they are potentially disastrous for health of the environment. So it is definitely advisable to carefully go through the guidelines of the products and use protective gear like safety glasses and gloves while using the chemicals. Safety glasses save you from the corrosive chemicals and while using chemicals like glycol ethers or ethanolamines are sure to wear gloves because chemicals get absorbed by the skin which is not a good sign. A complete no to mixing two cleaning products as it might lead to some unknown reactions which can prove to be very dangerous.
